The Dangers of Impaired Driving

Impaired driving remains one of the most preventable causes of death on our roads. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs reduces reaction time, affects judgment, and puts innocent lives at serious risk.

Every impaired driver is a potential tragedy waiting to happen.

Alcohol and drugs weaken coordination, blur vision, slow decision-making, and increase risky behavior. The result is often devastating fatal crashes, life-changing injuries, broken families, and communities left in grief.

These are not accidents. They are preventable acts of negligence.

Prevention Requires Action

At Safety & Victims Advocacy Foundation (SVAF), we believe that awareness alone is not enough. Prevention must be supported by strong enforcement and proper resources.

SVAF calls for:

Increased investment in road safety enforcement

Adequate supply of modern breathalyzers for police officers

Routine roadside impairment testing

Stronger monitoring systems to detect and deter impaired driving

Strict accountability for offenders

Equipping law enforcement with sufficient and reliable breathalyzer devices is a critical preventive measure. When drivers know that impairment levels are actively monitored, it deters dangerous behavior and saves lives.

Our Stand

SVAF stands firmly for stronger collaboration between communities and the police to prevent impairment-related crashes. Investing in enforcement tools is not punishment — it is protection.

No family should lose a loved one because someone chose to drive impaired.

Prevent impairment. Enforce the law. Protect lives.
